Two new photo sets published

Just a couple of small updates on Flickr. One is from when Uncle Frank and company visited her and the other are just some random shots. The second set does include a brief sharing moment where we got to sit with Bogey (one of our cats) in the glider. It did not last long.

Nothing really new, though Fiona did get her first bare navel bath today. No pictures, as we were trying to keep her from wiggling out of the bath tub.

Brief update

Fiona had her appointment today with Carlisle Photography today. We did the "Baby on Black" photo session. Mostly, it was pictures of Fiona with Kevin and Emily, and a couple by herself. Fiona did a wonderful job (well, after she was fed). Emily says some of the photos looked awesome, but we won't know for sure for about a week. Naturally, we'll let you know when the photos are available.

Michele (the photographer) said that if we order $400 or more, we get a special offer. I didn't want to bother explaining how many pictures we'll be ordering, but I don't think it will be a problem to get any kind of special offer.

Also, when we got home, Fiona's umbilical cord came off. So she actually has a recognizable belly button now. Hurray! Now we don't have to worry about touching the thing whenever she's belly-to-belly with us. There are a couple of pictures of her newly smooth stomach up on Flickr.

Another picture set up

Another small picture set available. Nothing particularly fancy, just some visits and Fiona sleeping.

Enjoy!

Doctor visit today

We just got back from the followup doctor's appointment today. Fiona is back up over her birth weight, coming in at 7 lbs 3.5 oz. Usually, you'd expect a baby to get back over their birth weight in about two weeks, so the doctor was thrilled.

For those of you keeping track, this means that everyone in the house weighs more than they did when they were born. Yay!

We go back to the doctor in a week for another appointment, mostly to check her weight. So far, so good.

First bath video

New video has just been posted:

Fiona's First Bath

No music on this one, so it shouldn't be any problem to watch it. Enjoy!

New Video posted

We just posted another video. Very similar pictures (some duplicates), but we're working on it.

It is available here.

Four new pictures up at Flickr

The doctor called earlier and said that Fiona does not have a problem with her red blood cells so she did not need to get in the sun. But, we thought it would be a good trial run, so we did go out for a walk (mama, papa, baby, and Maggie Mae).

There are a couple of pictures up on Flickr. Enjoy!

First Full Day at Home Update

Everyone is doing great on our first full day home from the hospital. Fiona slept well last night, waking every couple of hours to eat. Emily was the perfect mother, waking up before the alarm went off and patiently making sure Fiona had plenty to eat before she was allowed to fall asleep again.

We had our followup appointment with the pediatrician today. Normally, they wait three days on this appointment, but that would have been Sunday, and since the office is closed on Sunday, they had us come in Friday. But the doctor said she looked perfect (no surprise there!). Fiona has gained back some of her weight (back to 6 pounds, 14.5 ounces, up from 6 lbs 13 oz on Thursday).

There was some concern when Fiona was born that she would be a candidate for jaundice. That's because her blood type is A+ (which she got from Daddy), while Emily's is O+. The antigens in Emily's blood (the ones that fight off other proteins like A and B) can transfer to Fiona's blood in the last few days of pregnancy. What this would mean is that Fiona would produce more red blood cells then her body could get rid of. Thankfully, they tested her and she is doing fine.

One thing the doctor did suggest was going outside, as the sunlight stimulates the processing of these surplus red blood cells. Although we don't really need to do this, we might try it later just to get Fiona out and about. (Look for pictures!)

We go back to the doctor on Monday, just for a weight check to make sure she's doing okay. Over the weekend, we're expecting a visit or two from friends and family, so it will be a big couple of days.

Fiona has eaten well several times today and is just now sleeping.

Thanks again for all your love and support, we love all of you!
